On 1 and 2 September 2026, the second Pre-LSDemo Stakeholder Workshop brought together consortium partners, members of the Multi-Stakeholder Forum, policymakers, industry representatives, researchers, and mobility experts from across Europe in Brussels. The objective of the event was to validate key project results and further develop the foundations for future large-scale demonstrations in the field of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM).
Building on the outcomes of the first stakeholder workshop and the project’s focus group activities to date, the two-day event featured an extensive programme of plenary sessions, interactive workshops, breakout discussions, focus groups, and panel exchanges. Discussions focused on societal acceptance and societal readiness, co-creation methodologies, evaluation approaches, data requirements, demonstration planning, and the development of tools and frameworks for future large-scale CCAM demonstrations.
A defining characteristic of the workshop was its highly participatory approach. Within thematic working groups dedicated to Individual Mobility, Public Transport, and Logistics, participants collaborated intensively to discuss, assess, and further refine project results. Through moderated discussions, Slido surveys, collaborative Miro boards, and interactive group exercises, stakeholders were able to directly contribute their experiences, priorities, and recommendations to the project. As a result, participants were not only involved in reviewing existing outcomes but also played an active role in their further development. The broad range of expertise represented at the workshop fostered valuable cross-sector exchange among industry stakeholders, public authorities, transport operators, research organisations, and user-centred communities. The perspectives shared during the event will help further strengthen the scientific and practical foundations for future large-scale CCAM demonstrations.
In addition to the formal programme, the workshop provided numerous opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of existing collaborations. New connections were established, partnerships were reinforced, and participants explored common challenges and opportunities for the European CCAM ecosystem.
The workshop concluded with a forward-looking panel discussion examining how existing testbeds, proving grounds, and demonstration ecosystems can support future large-scale CCAM demonstrations and accelerate the path towards the operational deployment of automated mobility solutions.
The insights and recommendations gathered throughout the two-day event will now feed directly into the next phases of the project. They will contribute to making future CCAM large-scale demonstrations in Europe more scalable, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs of diverse stakeholder groups.
EICT played a key role in the preparation, coordination, and delivery of the workshop. As the leader of WP8 – Promotion & Outreach, EICT supported the organisation of the event, coordinated communication and dissemination activities, and presented the official project website as a central platform for information sharing and stakeholder engagement. The website was independently conceived, designed, and technically developed by EICT. In addition, EICT holds a central responsibility within Pre-LSDemo for the project’s technical and strategic coordination, helping to ensure effective collaboration among partners and the successful implementation of the project’s objectives.
