The test field "Autonomous Driving Baden-Württemberg" officially opened with a festive event in Karlsruhe in the presence of Winfried Hermann, Minister of Transport Baden-Württemberg and Thomas Strobl, Minister for Home Affairs, Digitization and Migration Baden-Württemberg, as well as numerous high-ranking representatives from economy, science and politics.

About 200 guests from business, science and politics accepted the invitation to the official opening of the Test Field Autonomous Driving Baden-Württemberg in Karlsruhe. On the grounds of the Karlsruhe transport association KVV as the operator of the test field, the starting signal for the use of the test field by companies and research institutions was given after a five-month trial run. Future-oriented technologies and services related to networked and automated driving can now be tested and tested in everyday traffic. The construction of the test field was already started in autumn 2016, the first commissioning started in December 2017. The Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg is funding the conception, planning and construction of the test field with 2.5 million euros.
