Web X.0: While all the evolution of the World Wide Web takes place on top of telecommunication operators’ networks, both - Web and Telcos – are often regarded as adversaries. Well-known effects encompass available network technology not being implemented by Telcos for the lack of suitable business perspectives. While notable revenues are generated on their networks they themselves have not been involved in the value creation beyond the dreaded ‘bit-pipe’ function so far. With the flexibility and richness of what is associated with Web X.0, Telcos might find themselves in a role to provide features of their networks and organizations to this upcoming ecosystem.
 
The evolution of the Web will determine to what extent and according to which application scenarios Telco assets will be made available in the future. The projects initiated here will help to understand what these future trends are – and how telecommunication providers can contribute to them.
