Intelligent services for senior citizens
The project aims to develop services that enable senior citizens to continue living in their own homes and stay independent for longer. The project provides intelligent living environments that help maintaining quality of life in terms of health, social interaction and mobility. Appliances and services from Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) and telemedicine are integrated on a modular solution platform. Research also focuses on the development of cooperative business models and on general issues such as privacy protection and sustainability. SmartSenior was the largest Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) research project in Germany, and ran from April 2009 to September 2012.
EICT was responsible for the entire project coordination, supported Telekom Innovation Laboratories, and coordinated solution integration activities together with Alcatel-Lucent and Siemens. EICT also supported the Charité university hospital in developing a comprehensive clinical trial protocol. Another one of EICT's responsiblities was to coordinate all dissemination measures as well as creating the project identity to report results and final event management. Moreover, EICT coordinated exhibitions at the AAL Congress 2010-2012 and CeBIT 2011-2012. EICT also staged various collaborative business modelling workshops.
