EICT demonstrates DESI project at CeBIT
Any user is actually aware of the complex processes he initiates, for instance surfing the internet or watching videos in the web.
In the telecommunication networks data is moved across a wide variety of devices and each of these steps consumes energy. These energy requirements are rising constantly with the increasing number of broadband services and applications.
The DESI project (End-to-end energy-sensitive ICT production) has set itself first of all the task of analysing and optimising these energy demands. Secondly, this energy demand is adapted to the requirements of smart power grids.
At the CeBIT 2014 a balance was drawn up and made the actual project status accessible to a wide audience. Therefore, concerned with showing on an interactive demonstrator the project methodologies were didactically refined and presented the complex processes easily understandable. Visitors of the IT2Green initiative could obtain detailed information without particular proficiency at the booth of the BMWi.
EICT has contributed to the technical methods for controlling the network. In collaboration with partners EICT developed the didactical basis and demonstrated its efforts on the presentation device. The modern and visually attractive design as well as the presentation on the 80-inch touch screen significantly contributed to become the results of DESI the guaranteed eye catcher at the IT-fair.
