Robust and Reliable Environment Sensing and Situation Prediction
Today’s driver assistance systems stop working under adverse weather conditions due to reduced sensor information quality. RobustSENSE wants to change that. In this project, 13 European partners from 5 different countries develop a sensor platform that provides environment information “robust” enough for automated or autonomous driving.
The project makes sensing systems able to operate better by combining several independent subsystems to an integrated and comprehensive solution. Consequently, RobustSENSE will contribute to enhanced road safety with a more reliable, secure and trustable sensing system:
- reliable even in harsh environmental conditions (like sun-flare, rain and snow)
- secure by self-diagnosis, adaptation and robustness,
- trustable on every level of assistance and automation systems.
The RobustSENSE platform will be realised in a prototype. Furthermore, it will be integrated in a number of demonstration vehicles providing automated driving functions.
EICT is responsible for the project management and leads the dissemination and exploitation activities.
